As organic farming grew increasingly popular, new legislation was drawn up in 1991 to support the new trend for organic produce. Since 1992, the EU-ECO Regulation has regulated (EC 834/2007) organic farming. This legislation, which is legally binding for all countries in the European Union, determines the minimum parameters for growing and monitoring organic products.
